Q: What is SVG?

SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) is a scalable vector graphics language created by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and based on XML format, designed to describe 2D vector and mixed vector/raster graphics. Supports both fixed and animated interactive graphics - or, in other terms, declarative and script graphics. This is an open standard, which is a recommendation of the W3C consortium. It has been developed since 1999. In 2001, version 1.0 was released, in 2011 - version 1.1, which is currently valid.
